Taking Vitamin D needs to be monitored by both patient and dr. It is a fat soluble vitamin that stays in the body for approximately 21 days. It can cause death if too much is prescribed. I know it almost killed me. I ended up in the ER taking 50K IU's prescribed by my Endo, then after 6 mos. down to 10K IUs, then eventually down to 2K . My thyroid was low and it was a way to kick start it, unbeknownst to me too much Vitamin D is toxic. It can cause frequent urination, tingling in extremeties, dizziness, sleepiness after sleeping soundly from a nights rest, difficulty breathing and other symptoms. It's not to be taken lightly. Toxicity is rare, but it does happen, don't be fooled.
