Daily exercise (and eating less) is certainly the best way to combat menopausal weight gain. But did you know that exercise also can help reduce more serious perimenopausal symptoms like heart disease, depression, and even bladder problems? An article I found on medpedia explains that in the case of heart disease, “a reduction in the heart-protective HDL cholesterol is common in perimenopause. There’s a Connection Between Obesity and Incontinence

In January, I wrote about the connection between menopause and incontinence and interviewed a physician who specializes in urogynecology about the factors that contribute to incontinence in women. She attributed the problem in part to weight gain that naturally comes with aging. The findings of a new study published in the current e-newsletter of the North American Menopause Society supports this. RX for Belly Fat: Strengthen & Tone with Exercise
Can diet and exercise really eliminate belly fat? If that appeals to you then check out Organized Wisdom, a search site for health information that’s distinguished by its “hand-crafted, doctor guided” approach. [click to continue...]

I asked Dr. Diane Berson, a dermatologist in New York City, who explained that there’s a perfect storm of conditions that are conspiring to ruin (my word not hers) our hair as we begin the second half of our lives. [click to continue...]
