Hello Sequoia- The conference I attended takes place every year and is scheduled again in January 2010 in San Diego. Here is a link to the website for information: http://www.scripps.org/events/natural-supplements-an-evidence-based-update. You'll have to contact them directly to see if Dr. Low Dog will be a featured speaker or watch for conference updates as they finalize the agenda .

How do I find out when Dr. Low Dog will be in San Diego in the future?
I would really like to attend a conference. I am very much interested in the natural alternatives to menopause.

There are many natural herbs which can help with anxiety, insomnia and depression. Look into Salvia, Wild Kratom and K2 Herbal Mix. Kava is also good, though not as strong as the former.

Now 53 years old, I experienced a short phase of night time hot flashes when I was 44. Thereafter, I had been sleeping soundly throughout the night until insomnia hit me like a freight train at age 48. Over the course of the first 2 years I researched A LOT, tried herbals, supplements, vitamins (including inositol and L-theanine). Nothing helped. I went from doctor to doctor and they all prescribed non-effective sleep medications. I finally met a physician who recommended a sleep study. Yep, I had developed sleep apnea - waking up an average of 17 times per hour. When I asked a technician at the sleep clinic as to why this condition began so abruptly, he basically explained that the tissues of menopausal women lose elasticity and become lax. This was a resonable enough explanation; however, even with using the CPAP machine faithfully, I still wake up in the middle of the night. I have tried valerian in combination with melatonin, but to no avail. The only medicinal I currently use is doctor prescribed progesterone cream - estrogen brings on hot flashes so I don't use . Thank Dr. Low Dog for the recommendation to use valerian in combination with hops, I'll give it a try and will let you know! PS. I still have a period - comes just about every 3 months and is non-problematic.
