Dr. Christiane Northrup to Appear on Oprah…Again!
The overwhelming response to Oprah’s first show on hormone therapy has led to a second, follow-up show with Dr. Christiane Northrup and Suzanne Somers on Thursday of this week. Somers first raised awareness about the benefits of bio-identical hormones in her book, Ageless: The Naked Truth About Bioidentical Hormones.
Later that day, Dr. Northrup will also host a special Hormone Webcast through www.oprah.com to answer questions about hormone replacement and bio-identical hormones.
Judging from the comments left on Oprah.com and the emails I have received on this blog, Oprah’s show has opened the floodgates to a national dialogue about menopause and overall wellness in the second half of our lives. It can only help us in finding solutions that work for us.
Following Thursday’s Oprah show and webcast, I hope that you will share your opinions, learning and questions here.
Hello Margy – I’m sorry to see that you are feeling so poorly. You clearly need some good medical advice. Since you didn’t mention where you live, I suggest that you contact the Women To Women Clinic for a telephone consultation. They are a group of women doctors, located in Maine, who specialize in menopause-related hormone issues, and they offer advice by phone. You can find their phone number on their website at: http://www.womentowomen.com/clinic/clnphoneconsults.aspx.
Please help me, I’ve been diagnosed with Peri-menopause in 2009, but since October 2010, I feel like I’m losing my mind. There are moments that I do not want to be around me, and I feel like every nerve ending/ muscle is tied up in knots, after I hit moments of anger. Just as quickly I find myself in tears. I don’t know where to turn, my husband is on deployment, and my 2 boys are all that matter right now. I don’t know what to ask for, or who I need to reach out to, please help me if you can.
Hi Phyllis – A good place to learn about the different tests that your doctor can order is the website of Genova Diagnostics, a private lab that many doctors use. (www.genovadiagnostics.com). Click on “tests” on the home page and check “menopause” to see a description of the tests that are offered.
Please tell me which harmone tests to ask my doctor for when I speak to her about biochemical harmones
